Established Research Centers
Centre for Spirulina Cultivation
Biotechnology department established Research and Training Centre for Spirulina cultivation to promote applied biotechnological knowledge to students and the rural community. Spirulina is believed to be “Nature God’s wonder gift of Food and Feed”. It is nature’s richest source of complete protein, amino acids, Vitamin B12, Enzymes, Phytonutrients and good source of organic iron. It is Bio-chelated and completely non-toxic and absolutely pure as a Food and Fodder. Spirulina has high digestibility rate of 95% compared to other foods.
Centre for Mushroom Cultivation
Mushroom cultivation is the most productive and one of the most profitable businesses in India. It is getting popular gradually in India because, in a short time, it converts farmers' hard work into profit. Farmers use the mushroom cultivation process in India as an alternate source of money. Hands-on training is offered to students in production and cultivation and they are trained to earn money while they are studying.
Centre for Vermicompost Production
For vermicompost preparation 2 concrete pits are available in the campus. Vermicompost can be prepared in these pits twice a year. Approximately 2 tonne of compost is harvested from these pits annually. The produced vermicompost is applied in the flowers and fruit garden of the MASC campus.Training programme on vermicompost preparation is conducted. The unit is also regularly visited by students and others visitors from various colleges, organizations and enterpreneurs.
Center for Ex-situ Conservation of Medicinal Plants
Medicinal plant conservation strategies are based on an understanding of indigenous knowledge and practices. Conservation of medicinal plants in its bio-cultural perspective not only implies conservation of biodiversity but also provides conservation of cultural diversity.
